Hello.
I don't have very good english but i try to explain the situatuion over here. Yesterday I wanted to install fresh windows to my notebook. I chose Windows Xp x64 edition. All went good until it wanted reboot after file coping. Now it wont boot up. Just stuck, no F keys working.
What i have tried to fix that issue.
Ram reseating(one by one, in different locations)
CMOS (clear bios)
If i remove the hard drive, notebooks works well with ubuntu live CD. But the hard drive is also OK, i checked that on another coputer. I made Hard Drive check test, it found nothing. I think something is messed up in Bios or smothing like that.
Anybody have any ideas ?

Reformat the drive in another computer and try again. It seems like the notebook does not like the partitioning that XP did on the hard drive. Try partitioning it beforehand, use one of the utilities on Hiren's Boot CD to do that.

Okay, I try to do that. My hard drive has several partitions. I format only C or all partitions ? (C - windows, d- for music, games etc, e is system restore, f-films.)
NB My drive has System restore partition also. -
That makes it a bit more complicated. The best way is to simply wipe out all partitions and start clean. The system restore (if you mean factory restore) partition should be left alone.
-
Yeah factory restore. At the moment im moving important files to my another computer. can i make Hirens to boot on USB ? Couse i dont have any blank CD's .
-
If i remember right there's also an USB bootable version.
-
Aight, that worked well. Now installing new windows . Big thanks to you .

Glad it worked.
If it somehow happens again, use one of the utilities (i prefer Acronis Disk Director) to create NTFS partitions of the desired size and install Windows on the already-made partition without using its built-in tool. XP does not play nice with partitions created by Vista, i think that's why you experienced this issue.
