    Hello,

I just got a DV4330CA a few days ago. First laptop, and the specs / price are excellent and suit my needs.

My only gripe - The touchpad behaves erratically. At random times, and for short periods of time (1-2 seconds to maybe 8-10 seconds, tops), the touchpad doesn't respond properly: The pointer moves much slower than my motion, or much faster. For a while, I thought I had a "deadspot" in my touchpad (ie: by passing my finger over a certain area, the pointer would 'jump' a certain distance on the screen).

The problem is, I cannot repeat the problem and it's purely random. For example while writing this note, I am playing with the touchpad and it responds flawlessly.

I have googled this, and it seems that other people have also written messages about this, but I don't know what the resolution was (if any).

There is an updated touchpad driver from HP.com (however it makes no reference to my problem above). I've tried upgrading the touchpad driver, but I can't get it to work. (I download the file, run it, InstallShield wizard runs, the progress bar goes all the way.. and then nothing. Driver version does not show the new version).

Anybody with similar experiences? Makes me wanna take it back..

Have you guys tried adjusting the sensitivity? Does this happen alot or just once and a while? My v4000t had this happen to it once. Then it went away and never came back.

I'll see what I can dig up on it. I believe there is a wire under the pad, but let me get back with you on that.

I think this is a problem w/ all dv4000 notebooks. I have to same problem, so I prefer a USB mouse.

This is not a problem I've encountered with my Dv4000, but I prefer to use a wireless mouse when I can so my touch pad gets lower than normal usage.

The palmrest needs to be replaced, since it is all one unit.

IMO I'd rather just tolerate the behavior of the touchpad than replace it, it doesn't happen all that often for me. Part of the time I use the USB mouse anyway.
