After trying a couple incompatible "Universal" laptop AC adapters and read other's complaint on getting the correct AC adapter for the new DV4000 with ATI x700, I almost gave up in getting a second AC adapter to be used at home. Then I found on eBay that laptopsinternational is selling a DV4000 (EC681AV) compatible adapter for around $33 shipped and the comments were good. I wonder if anyone has tried it. Interesting, I came across a power supply with the exact description at AXSHOP as few days before finding that one on eBay but there was no compatibility information on AXSHOP's website. The price was $28.99 with free shipping but with AXSHOP's reputation and slow shipping, I was not brave enough to give it a try. Last Friday, they came out with a 30% off coupon code for laptop power adapter that expired yesterday, however, the code never worked. I e-mailed their customer service and finally they posted new code this morning and it is working. I've pulled the trigger and give it a try for ~$20. Make sure you get this one instead of the one with larger plug. There is a picture of the plug that matches with my original power supply. The description is slightly off from the OEM one, but the other store is selling the same one and guarantee that it would work. I'll post again once I receive it and confirm. The 30% off coupon code is "ADAPTERSAVER" that should expired in a couple days. If you are as brave as I am, give it a try. But I've forewarned you their slow shipping history.

Nevermind. AXSHOP went out of business today. My order is being shipped and hopefully will arrive today.

It arrived today and it is indeed a Compaq PPP012L power adapter. It works well with my DV4000 although the voltage/amp rating are slightly off. Instead of 19v 4.5A, this one is 18.5V 4.9A (the same as the one available at eBay which is a 0220A1980 originally for eMachine M series or certain Gateway models). The good news is I got a working second power adapter for $20, the bad news is you can't order from that company anymore.
