    Taken from HP's web-site:

    Wireless Hardware Button/LED

The Wireless Hardware Button can be used to quickly enable or disable the Wireless LAN and Bluetooth adapters. This setting enables or disables the radio hardware. If the adapters are disabled here, then you must press the Wireless Hardware Button again to enable the adapter.

If the wireless LAN or Bluetooth adapter is disabled by pressing the Wireless Hardware Button/LED the following conditions will exist:

BIOS settings: The adapters will be shown as enabled.
Windows Device Manager: The adapter will be listed in the Device Manager and shown as enabled. In the Bluetooth Devices group, "Bluetooth Bus Enumerator" will be shown, but "HP integrated module with Bluetooth wireless technology" will not appear. In the Network adapters group, "Bluetooth LAN Access Server Driver" will not appear.
Windows Network Connections: The Wireless Network Connection will be shown as present and enabled; though it will be unable to connect with any wireless networks.
Intel Wireless LAN Advanced Properties: The wireless LAN adapter will be shown as "Wireless On" in the Intel Advanced Properties.
HP Wireless Assistant: Pressing the Wireless Hardware Button changes the settings in "Device Status". When disabled, the "Device Status" shows as "Disabled" and the buttons are disabled. You must first press the Wireless Hardware Button to enable the "Device Status" buttons.
