hello folks, how do i know which brand of speakers are installed on my machine? i've got the hp dv4007AP but there's no brand label of speakers, it only says on the specs -- Audio -- HP Premium Audio with integrated stereo speakers, as i seen on other dv4000 pictures there are altec lansing brand labels, but mine doesn't have. is it a generic speaker only? does it have a big difference compered to other units with altec lansing speakers?

another question, my dv4007 cpu temp is on average 45-55C as stated on centrino hardware control utility , is this normal temp for a notebook? my undervolt settings are 6x = 0.780v 12x = 1.164v

That is completely normal. Most laptop speakers aren't very good. A nice pair of heaphones is a good idea.

In your personal opinion, how does the speakers sound? If sound is muffled, chances are, they're not altec lansing.

thanks for the replies, on my observation it sounds good, it just lacks bass and when i play too loud, of course its muffled. but i was wondering, could it be a harman kardon speakers? just like in dv1000 they have two versions of it, old ones with harman kardon speakwers and the new ones with altec lansing. but mine doesn't have a brand tag.

Checked the specs of the DV4000 and there was no mention of speaker brand. My guess is its neither Harmon Kardon or Altec Lansing. Both brands are known to produce crystal clear/solid bass laptop speakers.

I'm pretty sure that all DV4000's have Altec Lansing speakers. Older DV1000's had Harmon Kardons and the newer models have Altec Lansings.

To tell what speakers you have, look at your speakers which are at the front base of the notebook and look to the far right of the speakers to find the label telling you what speakers they are.

But he said his are unmarked....

But anyways, as long as the notebook's speakers don't distort, I wouldn't be too worried.

Hmm interesting, I just found out that there are some DV4000's without the label saying Altec Lansing like the DV4018cl. So I gues they just have generic speakers. I thought all DV4000's had Altec Lansings, guess not all DV4000's are created equal.

yes it is not labeled, but its not a problem though, i just had a thought why they are not created equally as what rahulnirmal said, anyway, i just got my xb2000 expansion base last night and was testing it now. it sound really nice and crisp, speaker was harman kardon, although i was still missing some bass, i guess would be a good idea to add up a subwoofer. xb2000 is reaaaallly heavy! hehe now i'm lovin' my dv4000 more n more.
