Hello,
I am looking into buying the V4000T compaq laptop, but I still have an issue regarding its wireless card. It gives two choices - Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG WLAN and 54g(TM) 802.11b/g WLAN w/ 125HSM/SpeedBooster(TM). Which one is the better one as far as the ability to get weak signal well goes? Shloud I get the centrino package or should I go for the SpeedBooster stuff? Thanks.

I'd go for the 54G SpeedBooster card. It has less issues than the Intel PRO2200.

Thanks for replying. Issues like what?

IMO either one should be fine. They have the same power consumption and reliability from what I have seen are the same. There were some issues with the 2200 with its power settings but I think they should have been resolved by now. -
The thing is if you want bluetooth you can only go for Intel.

Mine works great, but have seen 2200s with issues. Unless you want bluetooth, I'd go for the Broadcomm.

is bluetooth worth having internally? my wife has a pda that uses bluetooth, any other features that bluetooth is worth having besides a mouse?

Printer or cell phone would be a couple more.

Well, if you don't want to have a USB adapter sticking out of the notebook, and you plan to use it, then internal bluetooth is a good idea.

well i'm saying as for upgradeability in the future, is bluetooth technology really gonna be that standard, where i'll want a mouse, pda, cell phone, etc. or should i do without the bluetooth, go for the more reliable broadcom and do with a stick for bluetooth for now?
