    Hi all.
Best Buy in my area has a tag for a new model DV4012 that is supposed to be in soon. It has the AMD 64 processor and seems to spec out the same as the ZV6005.
For my personal preference, the DV is more comfortable than the ZV.
Are there any major differences here that I should be aware of?

if you are a gamer you will be crippled by the GPU in either system.

I'm not a gamer, so that part is ok.
Actually this seems to be a new unit with the AMD processor.
Best Buy has a printed card on the shelf for it and it's showing up in their warehouse.
Same exact specs as the 4030, but with AMD and the price is only $1079.

I recommend getting it through OfficeDepot this week only in-store rebates that total up to $350 off (if you like the R4000)

If you don't mind the weight, the R4000/zv6000 series laptops are going to give you better performance than the dv4000. Substantially better dedicated memory GPU (vs. shared on the dv4000), better (and 64-bit capable) CPU. Shorter battery life but still decent, well over 2 hours with the 8 cell battery (a 12 cell is available on the configure-to-order machines).

Unfortunately, the pricing structure with this promotion is such that it's not very close to the Techdepot.com/Computers4sure.com pricing (even if you subtract a certain %/$)

I, however, was curious about other configurations under this promotion, so I went in-store & configured the following:

(My post containing all info can be found in the url given, in addition to others' comments on this deal)

    ****Don't delay...offer expires 04/30 in-store only***

P.S.-I still ended up purchasing via Hp directly since they offer a 9-10% student discount & I had a ONE-TIME use 10% coupon plus they don't charge the $39shipping fee that OD will charge nor any sales tax)

whats best place to get a good deal on hp notebooks? i am looking to buy hp pavilion dv4000.
Costco has it for $1299 1.73GHz Intel Centrino, 15.4" screen, 1GB mem, 80GB HD, DVDRW, 6.5 lbs. I am not sure how much of a better deal I could possibly get elsewhere. This pretty much the configuration I am looking for

Dell publishes coupons regularly and its see on sites like edealinfo.com. Does HP/Compaq have such patron sites for me to work out a better deal?

I would really appreciate your tips

    thx

Nope...HP coupons aren't available to anyone (except maybe a $25 off coupon)...they only offer instant rebates every now & then.
