    Guys,

    Sorry for my poor english.

Why in the HP store, the DV4000 is up to 1Gb of RAM and the DV1000 is up to 2Gb of RAM ? I would like to upgrade the DV4000 up to 2Gb.

    Thanks in advice.

    Diego

maybe it comes with 2x512 so its 1gb max unless you throw out the 512 and get 2x1gb sticks.. just a guess

The dv4000 might have only 1 user accessible memory slot, the other slot might be under the keyboard & might void the warranty if removed. But you can still add 2GB RAM but at the expense of voiding your warranty. Thats the reason HP lists the max RAM on the dv4000 as 1GB & dv1000(which has both slots user accessible) as 2GB.

I think I heard people say the DV4000 can have up to 2 gigs of ram and that HP made a mistake.

There must be 2. If you check the configuration page for the dv4000, you can see there are options for 2X512MB(1GB) and 2X256MB(512MB).

    Thanks Miner!
But its strange, not ?! If it can have two 512, why dont two 1gb ? Very Strange.

Very Strange because I find in the web that exists some series of DV4000 (DV4208TX,DV4209TX,DV4210TX,DV2111TX,DV4212TX), that up to 2Gb !!! This series have Ati X700 and dont Intel GMA900 ?!?!?!?!

HP can always install a 512MB stick on the memory module slot right below the keyboard. Doesn't negate the fact that the DV4000 only has a single user upgradeable memory module compartment though.

I agree, it all depends on whether the user is willing to access the second slot.

I just digged up some interesting info. If you look at Intel's website for their chipsets, they vaguely hint that the 910 chipset supports only 1 GB, while the 915 chipset supports 2 GB. Maybe that's why the dv4000 only supports 1 GB while the 915 chipset supports 2 GB.

Do you have a link...because the only 910 series chipset listed for laptops - the 910GML does support 2GB...
