I recently got my dv4t CTO and I'm satisfied with it...its fast, beautiful...etc
    BUT
I have a few issues with it.

    1. The temps seem high. It has a T5800 2 ghz and the Hitachi 250GB HD (was hoping for a WD) and the temps (from HwMonitor 1.12) are:

    IDLE (while browsing)
    (CPU usage 0 -20)
    THRM: 57 C - 65C
    HD: 49-52
    (are these temps hot?)

    WHILE BROWSING AND INSTALLING Games:
    (CPU USAGE AVG: 90-100)
    THRM: MIN 68C ....It went to 78 C !!!
HD: 49-57 ( is this hot?)

Why is the THRM temp going so high?
    Are these temps normal?

If they're not anybody know any notebook cooler compatible with the dv4t?

    2. I also have got 3 BSODs since I got it 3 days ago. I'm not sure what they are about..could it be the heat?

Also while checking the BIOS I saw a 'Fan Always On' and it was set to 'YES' is it safe to turn this off (set it to 'NO') Will the temps get even worse? (I think the fan is a bit load and annoying.)

    Thanks

CPU temperatuers are a bit high, but nothing it can't handle. I would highly recommend undervolting your CPU, which allows for cooler temperatures without sacrificing any performance and is completely safe. It can also slightly improve battery life.

Your HDD temps are high also. Not sure what you can do about that though, except buy a notebook cooler.

    Thanks for the reply.
Is my laptop bad or its normal for HPs to have high temps?
NB I live in a tropical country.

Normal for Hp to have slightly high temps, but BSOD's are not normal. Exchange for a new one if at all possible.

I have not got any BSODs anymore, since I did windows update etc... The BSODs could have been software related and not hardware related(dues to heat) as I thought before... I hope.

Where can I find a notebook cooler compatible with the dv4t?
