    Hi guys,
The screen on my dv4-1430us would sometimes flicker white when I moved it, but tonight, I set it on the table harder than I should have, and the screen is completely white.

After a bit of searching, it is my understanding that this is a fairly common problem. As my laptop is out of warranty, I would like to check the display connector and inverter myself before paying for repairs.

I'm a novice when it comes to computer repairs. I googled dv4 service manual, and found a manual off HP's website. Following it, I got stuck trying to remove the top plastic cover in order to expose the hinges. Does anyone have any advice -- am I doing something wrong?

As a follow up -- is it the inverter that is bad? Or is it some other part?
The screen has a backlight, but only shows white. VGA out is fine.
