So I'm helping a family member buy a laptop, and I've finally got him narrowed down to the dv4t, but I'm still unsure about one detail. The battery options for the dv4t seems to be kinda weak, and being that the 2700t is the same form factor as the dv4t shouldn't batteries for the two models be interchangeable?

By this i mean, buy the dv4t with the inferior of its two options and then buy the 12 cell battery from HP for the 2700. You'd think it'd be a reasonable information request but HP has thus far been useless...

You're sure? If you are, how so? I can't find a single image of the dv4t's bottom (that sounds strangely sexual)...

Hi. I'm considering to purchase a dv4t laptop, and I wanted the same question to be answered because I'm thinking about purchasing a 12-cell battery. So, I contacted HP. The person, who answered my question, said both series use the same types of batteries. Here's what I got:

Thank you for contacting the HP Home & Home Office Sales Center.

I understand that you are considering to purchase HP Pavilion dv4t Notebook PC at the HP Home and Home Office Store, and you are inquiring if it uses the same types of batteries as the dv2000 series. I have checked my resources here and confirm that the HP Pavilion dv4t notebook uses a 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery or a High Capacity 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery. From my review I can say that both HP Pavilion dv2000 series and dv4t use the same 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery (the same specification). But for safety reasons, I cannot recommend that you use the battery for dv2000 with the dv4t notebook. I cannot say if the architecture of the 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery of the dv2000 is the same with the 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery of the dv4t. I cannot find a document from our resources stating so.

    Sorry for informing you this.
It seems like my first comment was wrong.
I really hate how the HP online customer service center works!

I understand you want to purchase the HP Pavilion Entertainment dv4t customizable Notebook PC and inquiring if the 12-cell battery for the dv2000 series is compatible with the HP Pavilion Entertainment dv4t customizable Notebook PC. I would like to inform you that the 12-cell battery for the dv2000 series is not compatible with HP Pavilion Entertainment dv4t customizable Notebook PC since they are different in series. You must have a battery that has the same series.

The compatible 12-cell battery for your HP Pavilion Entertainment dv4t customizable Notebook PC is the 12-cell Lithium-Ion Battery for C500T, L2000, Pavilion dv1000/ze2000/dv4000/dv5000, Presario V2000/M2000/V4000/V5000 NB PCs, with the product number (PB995A) it cost $149.99. Manufacturer's often make minor changes which renders the old battery not compatible.
