    DV5 running very hot vista and linux ubuntu?

    My cpu temps at idle according to HWMonitor are 70c for vista and in ubuntu using gkrellm they are around 60c.....why are they so hot? its on a wood surface + underclocked to 1v....

    The temperatures are normal for a DV5 as the cooling system is very weak. Unless you're hitting 85C+ load temps i wouldn't worry, the chips are rated for 100C.

    Yes, 100. Mine was hitting 95C all stock, and runs at 84 max after undervolting. Regular usage temps (web browsing or movie watching) are 65-70ish.
