I've seen heaps of people with this issue and also with no sound issues and I've spent hours trying to find a solution to this problem to no evail so here goes...
System specs are,
DV5-1055TX
Nvidia 9600M GT 512mb
4gb ram
Windows 7 HP 64bit.
Trying to connect my DV5-1055TX via HDMI cable to a BENQ G2400W 24" LCD.
I simply cannot get anything to display on the screen. All I get is "No signal"
It works fine when using a standard VGA cable but I wanted to up the quality of the picture. It simply doesn't look that great and the idea of using this LCD is for watching TV using the integrated TV tuner through Windows Media Centre. The LCD has a DVI connection but it doesn't look like its a digital connection ( missing the 4 pins and the big flat pin) so it would be no different to using VGA. The notebook has a VGA & HDMI connection. No DVI connection.
So here's what I've tried.
1. Plugging it in via VGA to access the LCD menu, switching the LCD to HDMI then plugging in the HDMI cable and booting. Didn't work.
2. Tried hotswapping in Windows. Didn't work.
3. Tested the Laser HDMI (v1.3) to see if it actually works. Yes it does it works fine with a WDTV media box.
3. Changed all the possible resolutions, refresh rates, etc - Not working.
4. Updated the Nvidia drivers to the latest ones. Not working.
Strangest thing of all is that when it's plugged in via HDMI it is fully recognised under the display settings. The model comes up and allows me to extend display, set as default display, etc.
Can anyone suggest what I need to do or what I'm doing wrong?
To me it suggests the LCD simply is not designed to be used with a laptop but I find this hard to believe.

Don't ask me why but I got home and went through the above steps again and it started working! Looks like it's just buggy and cracks the s easy.
