I'm curious if anyone who ordered the new DV5000T also ordered the optional "OS & Recovery Media". This option wasn't available when I ordered my laptop on 3/1, but it's been out on the HP site now for at least a week.

I've been trying to find someone at HP who will let me order it seperate from my laptop order, as the description sounds like it may be the actual Windows XP install media. If anyone ordered this, please post when you receive it, if it's the actual Windows XP install media, or if it's just a copy of the Recovery CD's you can generate from the Recovery partition.

    Thanks!

It seems there are learning it from Dell. When I got my DV4000 a few months back, it came with the OS and recovery CD media. The same case for my old Inspiron 8200 from Dell 3 years ago. Now they both put it as an option and ask for more money.

I have a question about your OS & Recovery CD media that came with your DV4000, was that original Windows install media? Can you do a regular Windows XP install where you have full control over the drive partitioning, and network features, etc? Or was it the HP configured Windows install that you get with the Recovery Partition generated Recovery cd's?
