Well I am at work right now so I dont have a ton of time to do much.

Initial thoughts. Packing was light. It shipped in a single box. I am rather picky when I ship things that cost alot. However this notebook appears to be 100% working order! No dead pixels The matte screen looks really nice.

However someone at HP left finger prints/smuge on my LCD.

I will have some more good details soon

Are the viewing angles for the matte screen good enough? Since you indicated earlier you had notebooks with glossy screens before, how is the matte screen compare to them?

MHX, you've been with us for a while now--if I have to read one more dv5000z review and try to just focus on the style thoughts, i'm going to cry, and i bet you know what i mean.

and are you replacing the HD?

nope, just put in my 2GB of OCZ memory 533mhz

i may order a 80GB 7200RPM.. not sure yet.. Dont worry I will be working hard tonight to get this thing formated.. in fact I may do some benchmarks on the HP bloatware install compared to clean copy of XP just to see the difference.

So far keyboard and mouse feel really good compared to my last 2 laptops.
    a dell 700m and a sony tx650.

gonna install some benchmark software gonna see what this thing can do out of the box.

And considering the 7400 is only 64-bit, 2000 isn't bad when the ATI is getting 2300 @ 128-bit.

Open the zipped folder, select file and then "extract all," to unzip the folder. Then run the Program. When it's open, select the "Calculate" tab and then pick how many digits of pi you want it to calculate.
