Ok my USB port won't read any flash drives. It just reads ones made by lexar. any other company it won't read. However if i go to admin tools-disk management the comp reads it. the other problem is my computer loses internet randomly.. Wirelesss and wired. This problem happens on many networks. No other comps on the same network experience the same problems. Finally when i go to retinstall windows, it starts setup and then says "Setup can not find any CD Rom." I am using a custom XP cd which has the SATA drivers this comp needs. Any ideas?

It seems like there is something wrong with that custom xp cd. Doesn't the HP dv5000t come with any sort of recovery cds/dvds/partition? I have a 5163cl lying around in the house, and it has a big fat 11.8GB recovery partition.

Maybe a BIOS update, as well as network drivers update will help you.
Here's the page with all the drivers and the latest BIOS (May 2006)
