Ordering the Dv5000t from Costco with one stick of 1GB memory and or the 2500 processor will delay the shipping date 7 days and going to HP site doing the same will delay the shipping date 12 days. I believe the 12 days is more real

Why not simply order the minimum memory and get 1GB or more from newegg , its cheaper anyway.

already ordered notebook and reason for the one stick it leaves the other slot open. Get the 256 memory and to upgrade to 2GB you have to throw the 256 out.

^^Yeah, if I were to do this over again I would have just gotten the minimum memory and upgraded through newegg. It would have been cheaper anyway.

5000t comes with a stick of 256 memory and HP has a hard time getting a single stick of 1 GB memory which is 158.00 extra (Costco) Now I have a New computer I paid $1400 for and insufficent memory. I go to newegg or so other site and pay 120.00 plus shipping that is if i can even get new memory for a brand new notebook. I don't see the point to save maybe $30.00

Well, I got my computer through the APP discount. For the 1 stick of 1 Gig ram I bought from HP, I paid $175. My reasoning being that I could later just buy 1 more stick (which is what I'll do). But that'll cost me an additional $100 plus shipping, plus in the mean time I won't have the dual channel feature of the RAM. Had I gone to newegg, I could have purchased 2 gigs of 533 or 667 MHz RAM and (with how long it'll be until my notebook arrives anyway) had it waiting here for me to install the minute I got the notebook, plus it only would have cost me about $25 or $30 more than what I paid for the 1 stick form HP.

its better to match your memory. brand for brand, speed for speed.

less chance of windows crashing and problems.
