I have a DV5000t coming and I want to have memory waiting when it arrives. Here are three I am looking at.
OCZ 1GB
with 533 mhz and 4 latency. $72.99 ($63.99 after $9.00 Mail-In Rebate)
Transcend 1GB
with 667mhz and 5 latency. $82.99
Patriot 1GB
with 667mhz and 5 latency. $88.92
Is it worth it to pay up for speed? Also what does latency effect? Are any of these a poor quality? Thank you for your advice.

The question is will any of these fit in the system?

I found out what hp uses on both the Dv5000t and Dv8000t
1.0GB, 200-pin, PC2700 DDR1-333 Small Outline Dual In-Line Memory Module (SODIMM) All of these memory chips are faster then this. The OCZ I know fits in the Dv5000t and since according to hp they use the same configuartion it should work on yours. -
Any of those you listed should work. The differences are small for the average user, even between the 667 & 533MHz memories. Get the 667 memory as it will provide you better upgrade oppurtunities in the future if you are looking to upgrade, since that is the max you can use with the Core Duo.
Between the 3 brands, the OCZ would be the most dependable. Transcend and patriot are also OK, but I have never used their RAm, so cannot make an acuurate comment on their reliability. -
sorry about the mistake and thank you to miner for the correction and advice. What affect does latency have on performance?

In gaming and OC'ing a big difference, in normal every day tasks no much at all.

I bought the OCZ ram last night. I can save $30 and it doesn't seem like I would gan much with the faster ram. Plus I have heard good things about that brand while the others I haven't heard about.
