The DV4000US gets around 2.5 hours. What are we looking at with the DV5000z? I know some of you guys have it.![]()

My dv5036ea with rmclock (800@0,925v) and display at max performance is around 2h:15m.

Rmclock is an underclocking tool, right? So your computer was underclocked and only got 2 hrs 15 mins of battery life? Eeep...
Maybe the DV5000z isn't for me. -
brianstretch Notebook Virtuoso
Undervolting, not underclocking, and it only makes a significant difference under high CPU loads. During light use the default low-power mode is hard to improve upon. The extra 15 minutes you get with the dv4000 is mostly due to its weak integrated GPU vs. the ATI integrated GPU the HP Turion notebooks use.
The dv8000z has a 71280mWh battery, larger than its "8 cell" description suggests. Standard HP 6 cells are 44000mWh. You should take a look at them, or just configure the 12 cell option for the dv5000z (which, alas, sticks out from the chassis like the dv2000z 12 cell does). -
Eh, 17" notebook, way too big. Any estimates on actual use battery life, and not the test of some software that does some stuff? Just normal usage of the machine, browsing the web, some photo work, whatever. My current machine is a Dell Inspiron 6000 with a 9 cell battery, and I usually get around 4.5 hours out of that. So if I can get 3 hours out of the DV5000Z customized with a ML-40 and the dedicated 128MB GPU I'll be more than happy. But I'll settle for 2.5 if I really have to.
I've been talking to people that bought the DV5020, and they claim they're getting around 4+ hours of battery life with the wifi off and the screen on about 30%. -

I don't know any notebook (Turion or Centrino) that 'lives'
more than 2:30 with a standard battery of 4400mah.
Do u know? -

I only wish there was a higher capacity battery I could get for the DV5000us that would not stick out the bottom. It's too bad HP doesn't make an 8 cell or 9 cell or something.
DV5000z battery life with 6 cell?
