I have a DV5139us with an AMD Turion 64 Mobile ML-37 with 2 GB of RAM. When using CorelDraw and a couple of other graphics programs, they shut down and a pop up says that I am out of "virtual memory". I had someone say that upgrading my RAM would not help this situation. That's fine if it's true because I don't think I can upgrade anyways since I think I have the max I can install!
Can I upgrade the CPU to something faster and will this fix my problem?
My OS is MS XP Media Center Edition
Version 2002 SP 3
I've got my paging file size set to 3069 initial and 4092 maximum.
Any hints to avoid this if CPU or RAM cannot be upgraded? I am not that computer smart so a little help would be great!

Your friend is wrong but 2GB is the limit for that notebook. Upgrading the CPU won't help. If you're filling up a 4GB paging file I'd look in Task Manager for what's using up so much memory.
I think you have a good excuse to upgrade to a dv5z with 4GB RAM and 64-bit Vista Home Premium.

There is only 2 slots for memory and when I went to Crucials website, they only offered 1GB sticks and not 2GB. I would have done it without hesitation but I could not find any on the internet after spending 2 hours looking.
I just lost my job so I am trying to make do with what I have but I need Corel to work without shutting down my laptop. My wife has been begging for a new laptop for some time but I did not see a need until now. I like to make things last as long as possible. I cannot complain as I have already replaced the monitor and no longer have any usb outlets due to my 1 year old sticking things that don't belong in them! My fault as I left it on the floor. Should have known better to take a nap!
I do think it is time for a new laptop but cannot spend the extra money right now. Any other help, PLEASE! -

Sorry to hear about your job. It could be worse, you could be up here in Michigan, land of the single state recession...
All you can do is shut down as many other programs as possible to free up space for Corel. Oh, and if your BIOS lets you allocate RAM to the GPU use the minimum setting.
