I bought a DV5250 yesterday and slipstreamed a copy of XP Pro SP2 with the SATA drivers and performed a clean install.

I didn't encounter any problems until I opened system properties and noticed windows is reporting that the notebook only has 256 MB of memory when in fact this model has 2 GB. The BIOS reports the full 2 GB of memory and I remember the pre-installed copy of XP Home was reporting 2 GB before I wiped it.

Has anyone else encountered this or know what could be done to make windows recognize the full 2 GB?

I have tried installing all of the windows updates with no luck.

In the system properties it says "Physical Address Extension" below where it shows the memory. I haven't seen this before, anyone know if it could be part of the problem?

Got it working, I reinstalled again doing nothing different from the first time and it is now reporting the correct amount of memory.
