So i've been looking around, as much as I hate buying devices for things that are already built into my computer, my HP dv5t just heats up way too much. (even with the back raised.) So now, the question is, which cooler to get?
i kind of like this one here:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834997340
However, most reviews, and from what i've seen on this forum say to get this guy:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834998686
what is the advantage of this Zalman cooler? am i right in saying that i should technically go with the Nzxt (out of these two) because it has the vents in the rear, which would help my dv5t's cooling system? or no?
    thanks in advance!

The problem with the Zalman cooler is that you would have to move your notebook a couple inches off the cooler to match up the GPU vents on the back left side of the DV5t.

    Here is an example:

They both have about the same performance in regards to cooling, but the Zalman is quieter and has a little smaller footprint.

I have the NZXT Cryo mainly for the USB ports on the back, and I love it so far.

yea. that's what i'm not understanding. Whether it be the Nzxt one or not, shouldn't i buy one that focuses on the back? I dont know why he even demonstrated the zalman on the Dv5t if it doesnt do the job 100%

The Zalman NC2000 does a great job, but unfortunately (for the DV5t) you have to move the notebook a couple inches off the cooler to match up the fan to the GPU vents. I didn't want to have to do that and I wanted a USB hub, so the NZXT Cryo was the perfect choice for me.

I would probably recommend that you pick a cooler that matches the GPU vents of the DV5t because the 9600m GT runs pretty hot. I would go with either the NZXT Cryo or the Notepal Master Infinite.

if that came in black... i'd be rather tempted.

    how does that nzxt do?
does having the back raised up 4 whole inches bother you much?

It performs well, my idle temps for the GPU are in the mid to high 40's. And during games it usually stays in the high 60's and rarely gets into the low 70's.

Not not at all. I find it more ergonomic anyways. However, the biggest problem with the NZXT Cryo is that it takes up a good portion of my desk, and I don't like to move it because I have all my peripherals hooked up to the USB port on the back. So it kind of restricts my working space. :(

you know what Hp needs to do... incorporate a cooling system into their docks that they want us to buy so bad.

The rubber feet on the notebook sit on the rubber parts of the cooler.

I use the Zalman NC1000 for my Dv5T and all has seemed to gone well so far. Temps are staying low! The only part that gets hot is the left palm rest, but nothing i can do about that one!
