    Hey Guys,
I've been looking at the HP dv5t, and I've noticed that the keyboard primaily comes in that shiny silver color... I don't like it beacuse you get to see finger prints everywhere lol.
Hmm, is there any way/option for HP to make the keyboard black or not as reflective?
    thanks!

Are you talking about just the keyboard or do you mean the whole area around the keyboard? I have a dv5t and the keyboard keys do not get fingerprints at all. The area around the keyboard is a different story however. :)

I'm pretty sure that the wrist rest and touchpad are the areas of concern, not the actual keyboard.

I ordered a dv7t last August and returned it for a refund after only four days. Despite its many useful features, great looks and strong performance, I could NOT deal with the wrist rest and touchpad (and the glossy Onyx lid). They were impossible to keep clean for more than a few minutes.

If left for more than one day without cleaning/polishing the wrist rest and touchpad area, it looked as though a toddler with a Fudgesicle had been at the helm! :D

What color is the keyboard and surrounding area on the Ceramic White dv5 Special Edition?

yea, I mean the whole area surronding the keyboard.
Anything I can do for this? Do they make one in black?

Unfortunately, HP only offers it in Chrome or Bronze. The only possible exception is the dv5 Special Edition. It is white (Ceramic White, they call it) and it looks like the entire area surrounding the keyboard is different, but it's hard to tell exactly what color it is. It appears to be white an/or silver to match the exterior.

I'd bet that the white/silver might be the most smudge/fingerprint-resistant and require a bit less maintenance than the Ony/Chrome or Bronze trims. For some odd reason, the dv5 Special Edition is only available with the Intel GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics. The nVIDIA discrete graphics cards offered on regular dv5t models is NOT an option on the Special Edition!?

Back to your initial question....the keyboard, surrounding trim area and wrist rest of most Satellite Toshiba Satellite A300/M300/P300/U405 models is finished in high gloss black. Strangely, the keys on the keyboard are all finished in glossy black as well. The black trim doesn't fare any better on the Toshiba models than the Chrome or similar trim does on the HP!

look at the old dv2000 models, it's black but I'm not sure if the dimensions are the same or screw positions. I was thinking abut this too at one point. They are also much cheaper to replace.

dv2000 top cover will definitely not fit. Placement of the ports is different to begin with

    The keyboard will though.

Is that graphics cars in the dv5t special edition better than the one in the regular edition?

    No, they are the same.

Special edition just has a different imprint.

The silver keyboard for the dv5t is the same keyboard layout that the old black dv6000t has. If you can someone get a hold of a dv6000t's keyboard (ebay) then you can switch it out. Good luck finding one thats new or slightly unused.
