They discontinued that model for some reason. I guess I was one of the last to get it, and it's great. I think the dv6t replaced it.

Yep, the dv6t has replaced it. There are only dv5t Special Edition laptops now, but they lack the option for a 9600M GT graphics card.

the dv5z is still available and is the comparable model to the dv5t.

the ATI HD 3650 performs comparably to the Nvidia 9600M GT.

If both are DDR2 variants then the HD 3650M scores 1000 points less as compared to the 9600M GT.

meh... I do not care or put much stake on 3DMark06 scores... which do not usually reflect well as compared to game benchmarks.

both cards are quite comparable in overall gaming performance.

Is it me...or does it seem like HP is offering more and more AMD products in the low to mid-range of their notebooks.

    - The small/netbook end is currently dominated by Intel's Atom (until April when the DV2 comes out with AMD's NEO chip...can't wait!).
    - The mobility notebooks (12-inch tablet, 13 inch) are AMD.
    - Their mid-range is skewing AMD (14 inch = both Intel and AMD) but now they've discontinued their middle of the line 15 inch. (Although there is an Intel-based "Special Edition 15-inch laptop still.)
    - Their high-end powerhouse computers are all Intel based.

I don't know enough about the chip business to know, but does this appear to be the new lineup? Intel for the Netbooks and high-end, AMD in the middle?

    Just curious. Thanks, Bill

AMD will always have lower prices, and it's a much better choice than a celeron for $300-600 notebooks. They've got a good thing coming with the Neo as well, and netbooks are looking very profitable for Intel and AMD's future. Intel definately has them beat at the high performance gig, and with the new quad cores for notebooks and i7 down the road, AMD won't catch up anytime soon. AMD will continue with lower prices and do what they do best, better price/performance ratio than Intel.

    first, nice avatar.

second, I've heard AMD is ignoring/no-idea-what-to-do-with the netbook market
