I've noticed the lack of a firewire port on the DV5Z in pictures and reviews, but the previews for the DV5T indicate the inclusion of a firewire port.
Can anyone positively conform or deny that the DV5T has a firewire port?
Looking at the photograps of theDV5Z, there is a blocked off port on the left side between the USB ports and the Expresscard 54 port. And in the only pictures of the DV5T that I could find, that port appears open. I am guessing that it is where the firewire port goes, and the difference can be attributed to the AMD vs Intel chipsets.
I posted a while back about my dv2010 and the items I would like to have upgraded in my next notebook. The DV5T appears to answer my wishlist (bluetooth, higher res screen, better graphics card) but firewire is something I do use often (multiple external HD's, video camera), and adding a 1394 port with an express card is a clunky, slow, and undesirable to me option.
It looks like the DV5T will be my next notebook, though I am gaining about 12-14 ounces and a half inch in size.
Right now my dv2010 is at HP being repaired. (no boot, black screen only). Should be back tomorrow (or so they say).

that's an amd model, or is it just not listed for some reason? -

That page shows that model (HP Pavilion dv5-1000ea Notebook PC) as having a NVIDIA GeForce 9200M GS. I hope that the base and the 9600M GT is still an option.
DV5T will have 1394/Firewire but DV5Z doesn't?
