is support for DDR3 ram on any Montevina based laptop? More specifically if I bought a DV5t, when the price of DDR3 memory comes down, will it run on the DV5t?

The new DV series laptops from HP are still running DDR2. I don't know if the series will support running DDR3 RAM, even if it does, it will only run at the 667Mhz anyways (I don't believe they went up to 800Mhz). It would be a complete waste of money for you to buy DDR3 RAM if it won't even run at those speeds, because you can't overclock HP laptops.

Just because you might be able to use faster RAM, it won't make a difference if the motherboard bus doesn't support that faster speed.

I talked to HP support about this same issue, but the dv7 instead. They said that only DDR2 is supported. DDR2 and DDR3 actually have different pin configurations, and will not even fit physically. They did say that the dv7 will support 800mhz RAM, so hopefully that is the case.
