Hey everyone, I'm facing a really weird problem and I hope someone knows the solution to this.
Whats been happening is my laptop would suddenly (in the middle of a game like lets say world in conflict) start running slower than usual. At first I thought it was another case of overheating, however after testing it using RM Clock and GPUZ I saw that neither the cpu or the gpu were underclocking at any point. The cpu was running fine with no signs of underclocking and the GPU was running as it should. I tried updated/rolling back my ATI drivers and I've updated my bios version and Soundcard drivers and, well, almost everything! Ive tried updating everything I could think of, yet nothing is working. If it IS underclocking the software is reporting otherwise, and with a temperature reading of only ~65 degrees on my GPU I doubt its underclocking thats the problem. I also tried disabling ATI PowerPlay, didn't help at all though...

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    -OmarM

Edit: This is embarrassing... I didnt post my specs up
    Intel DUO Core2 2.4GHz
    3GB Ram
    320GB HDD
    ATI HD4650 1GB with 2.3GB shared memory
    Running Windows Vista 32 bit

It looks like something is hogging CPU cycles or HDD performance. Check antivirus, defragmenter and any backup program you may have installed (including Windows' built-in one).

hmm ok I'll do that, incase I don't find anything is it possible that my HDD is overheating? or is that not possible? Also, is there a possibility that my software isn't reading the GPU/CPU clocks correctly?

Depends what software you are using. If it's GPU-Z, that always gets it right.

HDD overheating is possible, but unlikely. If the HDD activity led is on solid when you get the slowdowns, the reason is obvious, so check for any other programs that run at that time using the task manager (ctrl+shift+esc). The HDD is by far the slowest part of a laptop, so make sure it's used as effectively as possible.
