    The purpose of this thread is to create a compilation of parts found on our CTO laptops. This will help others be better informed when making their choices when outfitting their rigs.

    Making a decision about customizing the DV6 while only using the info provided by HP is difficult. The website gives basic descriptions, but not part numbers, making it difficult to accurately compare parts and versions using neutral third party sites.

    Please run HWinfo and update any parts that you have. Please include your laptops model number and build date. I will update the primary post with your screen name and info.

    640gb 7200rpm HDD = SAMSUNG HM640JJ
    Mine fails HP Diagnostics out of the box, used to cause game BSoD's; doesn't BSoD anymore so far, but still fails Diagnostics so getting it replaced.

    @neotheOne, thanks! That is the first time I've seen a model number for the HDD. What was your build date, btw?
