Just ordered a DV6 with the 160gb SSD option. I spent 15 minutes on the phone with tech-support and they could not figure out what brand SSD they are using at the moment. But afterwards, I browsed the HP upgrade/hardware site and they only 160gb SSD they sell is Intel, so I figured probably a safe guess that is what they use in the DV6.

If anyone knows otherwise, please let me know so I can call in and switch it to the cheap option so I can get the Intel SSD via NewEgg (or Christmas :)).

    Thanks!

(Reposted as my thread was moved to Pavillion forum- I guess that makes sense, though I assume HP uses the same SSD in all laptops so this seems like a fair "general HP" question).

    it depends on the ssd.

however since there's really only one brand (that i know of) with 160 GB ssds..well yeah, its gonna be intel (95% positive)

I had read that point before, but a quick NewEgg search shows that many companies are making the 160gb SSDs now.

On top of Intel, OCZ Technology, Corsair, G.SKILL, and Kingston all have 160gb models.

    it'll just depend.

it will probably be intel, but it could be one of the other brands.

it will be a 2.5 inch version.

You could 'pop the hood' and check out the writing on the actual hardrive.
