    HP Pavilion DV6 6053ea, Windows 8 Pro -

I have been using the edge swipe function with Windows 8 via Synaptics TouchPad and I have found the track pad to be pretty annoying to use. I trigger the charms bar regularly even if I don't swipe from the edge of the track pad. I can end up on the start screen and launching an app without even knowing about it.

I like the swipe functions but the surface area devoted to them is too great. It should be from the edge only and not near the middle. Is there anything I can do to change it? Also some of the gestures don't work too well like scrolling via two fingers on the pad. Maybe the laptop is not really designed for touch interface?

I am using the following Synaptics version :

    Synaptics Gesture Suite

    SGS Version: SGS 12.3
TouchPad Series 2.0 - Profile Sensor
    Driver Version: 16.2.15 13Sep12
    FW Version: 7.5
    Scrybe Version: Not installed
    Interface: PS/2
    Windows Version: Win8

You can adjust the swipe area in the the touchpad properties.

i think i tried that once before but I don't see it in properties now..

I think it gave me a rectangle in the middle of the touch pad but instead of using the outer edge of the rectangle as the swipe area it used the inside of the rectangle. One finger's width from the edge would be enough to use for the swipe function but I don't know if the track pad can do that.
