I have an HP DV6- 2150US. I bought a replacement screen and installation went well or so I thought.
The screen stays totally white. I can hear Windows loading and even an individual program like Skype. But it stays white so I can't do anything.

Assuming the replacement screen is working, I would guess faulty LCD cable. Of course the screen could be broken, it happens.

Dismantle the display and reseat the LCD cable first, doing that doesn't cost a thing.

While you have display apart, look for the replacement panel's model number and type here also the orignal part's model. I don't mean the "replace with hp 123456-001" sticker but the manufacturer's own model, such as LTN156AB-CDE. Knowing those helps to verify they are indeed compatible with each other.

I quickly glanced the specs and they look same to me, so it should not be a compatibility issue.

What was the original problem, physically broken LCD or did the old one also show white screen? I'm still leaning towards to the LCD cable being cause.

Physically broken LCD screen. I will hook the new one to my desktop this AM and test it out with the external monitor.

I think it is the LCD cable. I got the screen working when I hooked it up to my DT monitor. I tightened up the tiny screws and when I brought it downstairs the screen was white again. I see one end of the LCD cable (goes into the back of the screen) but do I have to take my LT apart to replace it?
