    Hey guys :)

I've recently bought a DV6-3050SG that has an integrated Fingerprint Reader but I did a clean install (using the great guide here in this forum) and everything went as expected except that Fingeprint Reader.

I've installed the driver provided on the HP Website and the Reader ist correctly listed in the Hardware Manager but I cannot set my Windows Logon to use it.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions!

    Thank you in advance!

    Hi, Welcome to Notebook Review!

Is there special login software that has to be turned on? Maybe some HP utility or you have to go to user accounts and set it up.

There is a special software that enables it, its inside your swsetup folder, provided you did follow the first step of the clean install guide.

The driver for it is already posted here, however the software for the dv6t 3000 series is not posted here for legal reason.

You could use the older version of that software but you lose some of the dv6t 3000 features for it (minor though)

If you installed the program called "Validity Fingerprint Sensor Driver" like I did, the program should be listed in the start menu as "HP SimplePass Identity Protection"

After the program loads, expand Password Manager and click on settings. Check the box so that you'll have the fingerprint option at the logon screen.

I think you're still required to set a password for your windows user account so set that if it's not working, although you should be warned by the program during the process. If this doesn't work, the only other thing I can suggest is to reinstall the fingerprint software in case the installation got corrupted.

Thank you for your detailed answers, I have fixed it by installing the HP SimplePass Software that you mentioned...it's great to have such helpful users in a forum!
