Just curious as I'm always looking to squeeze any extra horsepower that I can out of my machines!

    I have a DV6-6140us ( HP Pavilion dv6-6140us Notebook AMD A-Series A8-3500M (1.5GHz) 6GB Memory 640GB HDD AMD Radeon HD 6620G 15.6" Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit - Newegg.com) with the A8-3500M dual/quad core.

    Two things I'm wondering:

    1) Any way to disable the CPU from switching to a 2.3GHz dual core for power saving reasons? This laptop doesn't ever get hot on my cooler so that's not the issue.

    2) Is there a better CPU I could drop in? A10 possibly?

Have you tried to set the power options to high performance?

Yeah, it's a clean install and running high perf. power settings; it's something inherent to this model.
