Hi everyone,
Just of last night I have been having this heating issue.
I downloaded GPU-Z to check my temps regularly before.
Since last night, to my amazement, I was getting 60c at idle!
BELOW IS GPU-Z LOG OF WEB SURFING. NO GAMING.

When I play League of Legends, a game that isn't demanding, I run nearly 85c! The laptop becomes burning hot. I just the thermal paste on the cores, and it seems to be messy. I just wanted to check to see if it only thermal paste related issue. Not voltage or anything serious.
Thanks!

It might be the problem with fan or drivers.
Sorry for off topic, was it hard to replace thermal paste? I think I'll need to change it too, if it was not very difficult. -
Maybe it's time to clean.
-
I cleaned the fan out. I have only had the laptop for a month now. The fan spins fine, how else will I know if its faulty?
INTEL HD 3000 does not over heat at all.
So I am thinking voltage or thermal paste issues with the 7690m XT
I didnt replace thermal yet. I looked the one HP put on, looked bad.. -
What is your ambient temperature and graphic driver version?
Indeed.. the stock thermal paste was a crap for me too. -
My graphic driver version is 8.882
hmm and I would say 60-65 is fine. 70 tops.
Normally when I play, I stay around 60
Thanks acid for the replies -
how will i know its the fan dying?
-
Have you tried to blow out dusts with compressed air?
-
Hmmm....
I also stated that only my 7690m XT heats up.
My Intel card stays cool all the time. -
I'm not sure that's really an issue. My 7690m XT idles around 60c. When you're just web surfing, it's best to switch over to the power saving integrated GPU. That will lower your temperatures a lot.
Also you aren't going to get "70c tops" with a dedicated GPU in a small laptop with 1 fan that shares a heat sink between the CPU and GPU.
