I just bought a used dv6000 series and couldn't find drivers for it except for wireless and chipset nforce 520. The bottom case show DV6327cl but CPUID show it's DV6768se. I'm assuming it's a mix match. Anyway, I'd tried looking up both number no luck. Even the video driver, couldn't find it. Any other way to find out what your pc is really is other than taken it apart and see?

Go to Device manager, look for the unknown devices and check their properties. Type here or google yourself the Hardware ID part (DEV_xxx VEN_xxx), that way you'll know what drivers you need.

Been there done that. Drivers limited. Even tried just DV6000
Well, since there's no sticker I wasn't sure which OS it came with. I thought it was XP Media Center 2005. I now installed Vista Home Premium and most of the drivers is there.
Thanks KLF, I got it and now with 2 different issues. One, every time I insert SD card it keeps looking for driver. I'd already installed Ricoh Memory card reader (16g, 4g and even 1gb). I know some older laptop can handle only up to 512mb. Second, when I insert USB bluetooth device, it also keep asking for driver. I thought most of these are Vista ready.

    To solve the problem

    1. Autodetect via hp.com
    2. Order the restore DVD only $16. Beat $150 for new OS.
