The circuit city website advertises this computer as having a firewire input... I own the DV6130, and I never had a reason to use the Firewire til now... but now that I need it, I can't figure out where it is! I'm beginning to think there is no firewire on this computer, and I'll need a card... if someone can help me out that would be great.

the specs can be viewed here:

    Thanks.

It has a mini 4 wire firewire port--you may need an adapter. Here's an image.

You might be looking for the wrong port. If you have a device that connects via firewire, you might have the larger connecting cord (6 pin) where the laptop has the smaller port (4 pin). No problem there, though. You can just get a cable that goes from 6 pin to 4 pin. Here is what you should look for on your computer. The port itself might be orientated upside down, but you get the picture. It should have that symbol by it.

I just noticed that there are 2 different sized firewire ports. Guess I'll need to get the adapter so my digicam can connect to my laptop.

Ah... ok, that is the problem. I need a 6-pin adaptor (or 6pin --> 4pin cable)... Any good suggestions for a cable of that sort?

    Thanks for the responses.

I picked up a belkin 6 to 6, that came with two 4 pin adapters, at target.

I have a 4 pin to 6 pin firewire cable that connects my video cam to my desktop but it obviously doesn't work for the dv6000 laptop nor the majority of laptops. The cable you need is a 4 pin to 4 pin. I got one off ebay from this seller in San Francisco for usd$3.50 shipped to Canada.
