I have a DV6000 series which does not power on. It is about 1.5 years old, runs on vista and had display problems in the past which was kindasorta fixed by HP warranty program.

Recently the screen went blank again and I unplugged power so I could restart the machine. When the battery drained, it simply would not power on. I could see the blue light at the end of Power connector. Of the other three blue lights on the machine two were very kinda dim blue and when you press the power button it would turn blue for like a second and would die again.

I tried unplugging from the AC power, removed the battery and tried to drain the residual charge by holding down the Power button for a few seconds. This did not work and I have run out of other ideas. Any idea on how to fix this or what the problem might be?
    Thanks to all
    Kris

Hmm, it sounds like there is an electrical short somewhere in the system, maybe in the backlight inverter or something. Could you still see a faint image on the LCD when the screen was "blank" or was it completely out?

it was completely out! but this display problem used to be a pretty bad one last year an HP fixed it two times already! I tried again today by pressing the power button for 20 secs and releasing it but it didnt help.
Tried the quick play button also but to no avail. There are 3 blue lights on the machine..all three lit up but only one has the regular blue color which shows that the power is connected
