Im guessing HP does not sell the Ribbon by itself.
    I have P/N from HP
    431423-001 = $81.99
    431437-001 = $63.13

I take it HP wants to replace the main power button and media board.
    Good grief.
Now through some searching I have come across this company that sells the ribbons.
    Link is
    http://adsoltechnologies.com/store/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=175
    AWM E66085 20798 80C 60V VW-1 which is a 14 pin 5.5" long.
Is this a direct replacement and will it work?
I guess a better question is how many pins are the cables?

    Hi,

I don't know if that will work but I'd love to know. I take it you're having this sound/power problem too. I'm on the same trail as you, I'm looking for a cheaper option than HP who want me to send the laptop on for repair (if I could only get my hands on whoever's in charge there and beat a few of these cables out of the uncaring corporate lackey... but that's another problem). Can you please update this post if you get a definitive amswer about the cable? I'll do likewise.

    Rob

it is hard to open the unit out and replace the ribbon, HP wanted $321 for mine DV6119us too....I told them not to do it and send my unit back to me so I can buy it and replace it myself. Do you have the manual or something that you can show me to replace it. Thanks
