Hi Mike. Is your clock running slow, or very inaccurate when you boot up? It might be the battery on your motherboard is low or dead.

There's a watch battery, usually a #25 somewhere on the motherboard. Take it to a repair shop and it should be a quick and easy swap.

lol you actually replaced the battery?

Digital Clocks dont actually slow down because of a low battery. It will reset or not function at all not slow down.

Its software related unless your live way too fast and the clock just cant keep up

    Try this:

    Have another watch with you.

Go to your BIOS and sync the time with the other watch.

If BIOS clock cant keep up then definately a problem. If it keeps time then its an OS problem

    Hi,
Still got a problem with clock running slow. Here is the answer.

    1) Double click on clock
    2) Click on internet time
    3) Turn off automatic synchronise with internet clock
    4) Click on time zone
    5) Ensure you are on time zone for your country. For England GMT Greenwich Mean Time.

After all this your clock should be ok.
    Yours Brian, BAC

Hi, I have a 3 year old HP pavilion dv2000 and has been running perfectly up until now. Last week I noticed that the time clock at the bottom right was not showing the correct time.
I checked my clock settings that it was set for summer time and set the time. I when noticed that when I turned on my laptop the time will show the time when i powered down.
What i have done in the last week.
    1) reset the time many times.
    2) checked the forums to find out the problem... they all say it's a dud RTC (CMOS) battery.
    3) I had a technician replace the battery. (He also checked the new battery was ok)
4)... i still have the same problem... clock stops when power off.

    5) I have performed a PC recovery to when as new.... still same problem.
    6) I have updated all drivers and reg checks.... still same problem.

What i want to know is...

If the battery is ok what else will cause the RTC to stop working?

All the forums I have visited all say its the battery but none... and i say again none have said what else will cause this problem.. Even the techy that that replaced the battery has never known of this type of problem....

I hope you guys here can help me solve this .

    Cheers
    Brian
