When i bought my hp pavilion dv6527ea it came preinstalled with vista so naturally after a few months i downgraded to vista and found all the drivers except for one....
The ethernet driver
I have pretty much installed every driver i have found remotely linked to my laptop and i cant get it to work
If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great
Thanks

Whos the manufacturer for the ethernet controller?
You have checked the HP website and tried downloading drivers for different models there right? -
I have tried HP and how do i tell what the ethernet manufacturer is? Ive got an AMD if that helps and nvidia 7150m
-
anyone wanna help me
-
on the bottom of your laptop, there should be a model number, for example I have a dv6700, but the exact model # is dv6772nr. Once you find the model # go to hp.com and click on support and drivers, and then type the model # in. It should show you all the drivers available.

yes but this laptop is only for vista
so there arnt xp drivers and ive tried loads of drivers from other dv6000 series because thats where i got the other drivers like for the webcam :S
and vista drivers kinda work but doesnt enable the ethernet -
Go to Device Manager and look in there for the Network Adapter. There should at least be two, the LAN and the wireless.
-
ive got the wireless just not the lan, its just a yellow questionmark
-
How about in System Information in Start, Accesories, System Tools. Look under Components, Network in there. Any clues in there?
-
This is what it looks like, i dont know what the top network adapter is (1394 net adapter but it doesnt seem to do much), then the wireless and then the ethernet which has been called Nvidia because of the vista drivers, if i uninstalled it would say Ethernet -
Have you seen this http://forums12.itrc.hp.com/service...47627+1204495514004+28353475&threadId=1193997
Same notebook as you.
BTW, I have a Dv9730ca with nVidia chipset. With GeForce 8400MGS graphics. My Device Manager looks like yours, with the nVidia controller for ethernet and Broadcom for wireless. The 1394 is firewire. -
that's for windows vista though, OP is looking for xp drivers.
Edit: have you tried windows update? That sometimes works. -
Try HP update or windows update as a final resort for looking for missing drivers
-
Yes it was mentioning Vista but the Tinyurl link showed XP nVidia chipset driver for that laptop.
-
ok the ethernet works thanks Nilst. But now i cant connect through the wireless with the ethernet plugged in or not it just hangs on waiting for network on the Wireless Network connection wizard thing from xp
Any ideas :S the driver is still the same one ive been using without the wireless working -
anyone
please :S -
The Nvidia Ethernet driver is part of the "NForce" chipset driver package. Now you just just need to figure out which version you have.
-
You have a Broadcom wireless right? I guess you might have tried to uninstall from device Manager and reboot, stuff like that.
DV6000 ethernet drivers (i have searched the hell outof google)
