Had a problem with my nb BSODing whenever I loaded a cd with iTunes running. Never did try to figure out the problem since I dropped iTunes shortly after for other reasons.

You mean the songs skip? If they were imported from a CD, the CD may have had something on it (dust/fingerprints) and made it import the song incorrectly. Otherwise, I don't know.

i have no problem with iTunes 7.0.2 on my dv6000... try to un-install, clean your registry, and re-install... just my 2 cents

I have this problem only when I am on battery. I hope Apple fixes this soon because I can't listen to any music while surfing the internet.

It's pretty much a universal problem most people suffer from with the iTunes 7.xx releases. Like was suggested above, go to www.filehippo.com and return to the last 6.xx release.

    Hey folks -

I just got my dv6000 last week, and experienced the skipping issue with iTunes 7.0.2 immediately after loading it. I came across a solution for it, though...I applied it earlier today, and it seems to work fine, but as always, your mileage may vary...

This solution goes back to the early days of Windows when the hardware was getting faster in such a way that the software/op system couldn't keep up over time. Long story short, if you slow down the audio hardware, it works better. Here's how (in XP Pro):

    - Close iTunes if it's running
    - Go to Control Panel and select QuickTime
    - Go To Audio tab
    - Press "Select Audio Playback and Recording Devices" button
    - Press "Advanced" button in "Sound Playback" box
    - Press Performance tab
    - Change "Hardware Acceleration" to "Basic" (one tick from the left, where the default is "Full" - all the way to the right)
    - Press OK for both boxes for the Audio hardware, returning to the QuickTime dialog
    - Click "Safe Mode" check box
    - Press OK
    - Restart iTunes

Six hours, no skips...when it was skipping every song before. Like I said, I don't know if this horks anything else on the machine, but I'm simple - if iTunes works well, I'm happy...

    Good luck...

    - PonB

    I'm trying this.
I noticed it too, but I figured I was maybe just running too much stuff or I don't really know.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one... I can't revert to iTunes 6 since I am using a 5th generation iPod... It makes me download the new one.

    Hurray

PhaedrusOnBass: I follow your logic completely until the step where you say to click the Safe Mode button, which causes the sound card to only output wav audio. I don't see the point of this, and won't it cause the microphone and CD audio not to work?

I previously had the same problem, and tried the solution above, to no avail. Later on I found another solution in a different forum, and it worked for me.

    1) Exit iTunes
    2) Uninstall QuickTime from the Add/Remove Programs window
    3) Go to apple.com and download the stand-alone QuickTime (NOT the one that is bundled with iTunes)
    4) Install QuickTime with that file
    5) Run iTunes. For some reason it was also suggested to have the volume bar in iTunes set to the maximum level, and adjust your desired volume with the Windows or hardware controls. Not sure why but it didn't seem to harm anything.

    Best of luck!

Good catch, 4 - I had that box checked due to a prior "fix" I attempted, and in the spirit of changing only one thing at a time, I left it checked. I was able to use VOIP over Yahoo after making the change, so it was working fine, I'm guessing, but I unchecked the box and iTunes appears to still be working OK...
