I have a AMD based Turion dual core and nVidia mobile that will not turn on because the GPU has came off the motherboard...
Took it completely apart and heat gunned the mess out of it, and it worked for a couple of days and died again.

Now that it is on Ebay, I have another dv6000 (exact same computer) and was wondering what steps I can take in order to prevent this same problem from happening.

While I do have a cooling pad, I rarely use it because I am always on the go.
Could I take the computer apart and place a copper sheet on the GPU and then reconnect everything?

Fans are always clean and when its in my lap I'm making sure the fan isnt covered.

    Thanks in advance!

There is no preventing it from ever happening again, it's an Nvidia defect that isn't fixable. All cards in those generations have a high failure rate, cooling only does so much. Overall it's a parts only laptop with bad motherboard
