Hi everyone,
My exact laptop model number is DV6330EA.
I have had this laptop for about 2 years and it has worked very wll, but last week it broke down.
When i turn it on the screen is blank, you can see that the video card has started but it's like a black bios screen with nothing on it.
I've tried lots of things, reinstalling different OS's XP, Vista, Windows 7 but all the same.
But here is the part that is baffling me, when i connect an external monitor to it, it works fine, but only with standard VGA drivers, once i install geforce drivers, it won't boot to the OS. Also, if i reinstall a new OS, the laptop screen will work for one time only until i try to install updated graphics card drivers, which results in the blank screen returning, so i know the screen works fine.
Could the graphics card be gone?
Thanks alot for any help!
Martin

Yup. Another fried NVIDIA GPU. HP has been replacing motherboards for most of their AMD notebooks with defective NVIDIA chips:

But not Intel notebooks for some reason. The only known fix is to reflow the NVIDIA GPU, which is nontrivial. Search this forum for instructions.
