I've searched for HOURS on these forums and about as much on google, and i cannot for the life of me find someone who can relate.

I have an HP Dv6000 that I just recently purchased. It has the Imprint Finish, and I absolutely love it. After maybe an hour, I look on my cover...and already there's two VERY clear scratches in the middle of it. Now I don't know what could have happened, as I treat ALL of my gadgets with the upmost care...ESPECIALLY a 1000 dollar notebook, but whatever it was...it must have been sharp. I can say the scratch resistance claim is warranted...because I keep it in a laptop backpack during school where it slightly sticks out of the padded sleeve, and it sometimes gets a little knocked around. I have maybe one or two minor small scuffs from that, but they're hardly noticeable, and NOTHING like the two scratches previously mentioned.

Now normally...if I can find somebody to relate, I can convince myself its ok...but not ONE single person I have found has scratches on their hp imprint finish notebooks. Its even more disheartening when people say they've had it for months without one scratch. I've had mine for about 3 weeks. It's become very frustrating...and all this has probably made me more naggy about the scratches...I know I shouldn't be.

So does anybody else have an imprint finish notebook with scratches? and how did it happen? just curious....

My V3000 doesn't have a mark on it after three months.

Did you have keys in the bag with it? That could be the reason. I don't think they will accumulate scratches with regular use, but with something digging into them in an enclosed area, it would definitely make a difference.

You can buff out scratches with 3M or similar plastic polish, available in automotive stores.

BTW you probably placed it inside the bag with keys in your hand or metal watch strap. Anything scratches, especially if you have children around. Either way, polish should work, good luck
