    Hi

I have a DV6000 whose sound card was working perfectly. Since Nov'07, I started using a Creative external USB sound card, since I had to connect my A/V receiver to the notebook and I was having problems with the built-in SPDIF.

Recently I discovered that the notebook speakers have stopped functioning when I use the internal Conexant sound card. I tried reinstalling the drivers, did a clean install of windows also, but they didnt work.

Then I tried using headphones and realized that an extremely low volume sound comes from the left headphone and nothing from the right.

I searched a lot of posts here and FunnyX has suggested that DV6000 has a ribbon cable under the power switch which if develops a wave, can cause sound problems. Can someone share their thoughts who might have experienced same kind of problems.

FunnyX, can you share your thoughts as well...
    Thanks in advance...

Are you sure you set the Conexant sound card as the default device?

Just making sure its not a software problem before going to hardware troubleshooting

Yes, I currently have only Conexant sound card driver installed and its also the default device. I tried reinstalling WinXP and Vista, but I got the same results.
Thus, there is no software problem.

    Hi Shashank,

I have the same problem with my HP dv6000. I didnt use any external sound card, but the sound stop all of the sudden. It may be because of the very frequent overheat problems that I have on my laptop.

So, if you got the solution plz let me know.

    thanks.

This happens to me every so often too... as a matter of fact... right now! Sometimes I just reboot, and it comes back... sometimes I update the driver. It's very random... I honestly don't know why it happens. I ordered a sound card cuz I was tired of screwing around with the built in sound card.
