Have just bought an DV6000 (Turion X2 ML-50). But I am disappointed:![]()
The battery lasts only 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Though I almost not working with NB and WLAN off.
In addition the fan runs occasionally and the NB gets hot (compared to my old HP NX7000 - which ran 3 to 4h!!)
Is there any chance to get a configuration that lasts longer AND stopps the fan?
I used to use CrystalCPU, but that did not help me with the AMD one, it seems to run the fan even, when only running at lowest CPU clock.
I wonder if...
... the Core Duo version of the DV6000 will run cooler?
(Please post your battery life experience)
... in would help to get for a built in graphics, instead of the Radeon one?
... there is a 12-cell battery offered by HP, is this one better?!
What specs should I get? I was used to clock down my old HP NX7000 as often as possible, my first priority is maximum battery life and running cool. I do not play games!
Any chance with this laptop?! I like the design and the features. I did not came across an alternative option. MacPro is nice, but not when only going to run XP.

CrystalCPUID will work with your TX2. I bet you didn't disable the default power management by setting your Power Scheme to Always On first. I'm not sure how much you'll be able to undervolt the TX2. You could set your Power Scheme to Minimal and that should force 800MHz operation, that would lengthen your battery time quite a bit.
HP's 6 cell batteries are only 4.0Ahr while their 12 cells are 8.8Ahr. If you want long battery life, definitely get the 12 cell. -
Ok, I will give it a try.
But who else has some experience? Can this laptop be run without the fan turning on? (My old NX7000 could: I forced it to fixed 1000Mhz and undervolted a bit).
I thought the recommendation with CrystalCPU was to switch XP powermanagement off, by selecting desktop PC and let CrystalCPU do the job?!
In my case CrystalCPUs clock meter showed me a reduction to 4x200=800Mhz fixed, but when I started to run PrimeZ the CPU load on one core went to 100% and the fan was running continously.
Is there a chance that clock was not kept at its minimum, though CrystalCPU reported?
In addition the fan was running every once in a while, even with no CPU load. Why is this baby getting so hot? What can be done?
Which configs give the longest battery life?
Core Duo, Core Duo2, Turion, integrated GPU or dedicated GPU?!
I am not sure, but I guess the dual core prozessors take extra energy, so the battery runs empty earlier?!
What max battery life do you achieve? And HOW?
I will definitly go for the 12cell battery!
