I don't know if anybody has had a problem like this, but any advice would be helpful :)

So i normally have speakers plugged in to the front jacks. But i came home and didn't bring my speakers with me. So i was trying to play music and nothing comes out. When i hit the quickplay buttons, the chirping noise still happens so i think the speakers still work. I think maybe the computer still thinks speakers are still plugged in, but i don't know how to fix this.

Anybody else have a problem like this???

Just a couple questions before we try to come up with a solution... what program are you using to play music? Have you checked the volume controls built into windows and the program you're using. Have you installed new software or hardware lately or have you ran any updates? There are a lot of different things that can cause these type of problems, if we had a better idea of what's going on hopefully we can narrow it down...

    1) i haven't used any program to play music, there's just no sound period, no Windows sounds (delteing files, startup, shutdown, etc).

    2) Yes i've checked the sounds, everything is up, nothing is muted.

    3) Nope, nothing comes to mind of new things installed.

ok then my suggestion is to go to the hp support website and look for the most recent audio drivers you can find.
