Some say the Dv6000z gets a bum wrap and i believe thats true,im not a expert on notebooks but i know a good machine when i see one.
The DV6000z looks exactly like the t version heck it even preforms like the t version.yeah the t version has alittle better use of power concumption but when your at home pluged into the wall you will see no difference what so ever between the z and the t version, i guess the intel followers will bash any computer that doesnt have a intel inside aye.
I havent had and lag times when loading programs at the same time or playing a game and doing a virus scan.you can take all ur bench marks and throw them in the trash.Because you wouldnt even know the difference between the intel and amd. in my opinion your paying for name brand and not proformance. If you want to cut costs on ur new computer amd would be the way to go even though ya lose battery life(get a car acadapter) if you want brand name and alot more expensive get the intel.
-waits for the back lash of people and core 2 duo this and that haha -

and as far as processor temp someone asked me what the temps was for it the idling temp is between 50c-53c the max temp i got was i ever got was
70c one time but usually stays maxed out between 60c-65
you all know notebook monitors better than i do. so mine is a lpl is that good? -
lappy486portable Notebook Evangelist
Well MY DV2000T, maxes out temp at 53C, that is with a Virus Scan, Mozilla, WMP, and downloading several programs. Or It maxes out at 55c playing HL2. That is over 10 celsius cooler than your notebook mxed out. Idle My temps are 41-45 Celsius. This is with a Core 2 Duo T7200 2.0GHZ. And all in all, Core 2 Duo has more power than the AMD. Also, LPL screens are pretty good, but even if you got a SEC screen it would still be good, in my opinion I have an SEC, and it looks better than my old Sony Vaio FJ screen.

And it is true that AMD excels at gaming, but Core 2 Duo tears up AMD 64X2 at multitasking. And it is way more power effiecent. And the gaming performance isnt that much better.

Wow one more post and thats it, doesn't it suck for the processor to be that hot all the time? Doesn't your computer get hot?
-
the fan kicks in when it gets to about 56c then stops when it gets to around 53c
-
one guy i think his name was sunny something or other i think he said his idles around 53c so it might be the norm for amd processors.
-
lappy486portable Notebook Evangelist
Yeah maybe
-
the fan does come on alot though
-
lappy486portable Notebook Evangelist
Can you hear it clearly, because on mine I can't hear it at all.
-
yep.....................
-
its not loud loud but i can hear it ya know what i mean if i aint got the tv on or anything i can hear it
-
the top of ur laptop below the keyboard feels warm right? thats a normal notebook feel right? lol ur startin to freak me out here lappy lol
-
Undervolt the AMD CPU. AMD generally is very concervative in CPU voltages, so I bet you'll experience significant temp drop at full load.
-
lappy486portable Notebook Evangelist
Yeah it does feel warm, that is a normal thing for laptops. And does your left arm wrest get warm while playing games or things of that nature. Mine sometimes gets uncomfortably warm due to the Graphics Card in my laptop which if the Nvidia GO 7200. That is my only gripe with the computer, I guess I'll just have to get a keyboard, and an external monitor, so I could have a powerful desktop, and a powerful laptop.
-
nah its never got warm to the point where its uncomfortable
-
lappy486portable Notebook Evangelist
What game do you play, and do you know what's the highest temperature your GPU got.
-
lappy486portable Notebook Evangelist
Im talking about when playing HL2 or Doom 3 at high settings. Thats when it gets uncomfortably warm, and it's not UNCOMFORTABLY WArm, but it is hot. During normal usage it is cool to the touch.

Lets put this all in perspective. The differences between a 2ghz Turion and 2ghz Core2 duo is substantial on paper, but unnoticeable in reality. The real issue is cost effectiveness. The 2ghz Turion is too expensive compared to a comparable 1.66 ghz Core2 duo. If you could get into a turion based system at say, a $150 savings over a similarly clocked core2 duo, i would take the Turion based system. I have benchmarked a 2ghz core duo, a 1.66 ghz Core2 duo, and a X2 3800 side by side. I found them all to be within a stone's throw of each other. The core 2 duo 1.66 ghz chip is the best deal by far. All of the deficiencies of the Turion are forgiveable as long as the price is right.
-
i couldnt get the price down around the price that i wanted with a mid range core 2 but when i configured the z model with the tl-60 is was right below where i wanted to spend.
btw lappy sorry for not gettin back to you i thought this post was dead.
the highest while playin one of only 2 games i have right now it got up to 53c with the rmclock temp monitoring it. the mobilclock seems to be off so i got rid of it. -
I personally wouldnt worry about CPU temps. The real issue is how fast the fan is running and for how long. Eventually it will become less and less effective. Then there could be a heat problem. It will also get noisy as hell. But by that time you will either have a new lappie or at least wanting one. I had a fujitsu ULV centrino (11 watts) guess what? Hottest running CPU I ever had in a notebook. There was no air intake so..... Besides, the RAM and HDD was the hottest part of the notebook. So if you follow that logic, you really cant tell how cool or hot your CPU runs compared to another since there will be three things that probobly arent constant: ventilation, ambient room temperature, and the cooling solution.
Both CPUs are great performers and run relatively cool.
What kind of fps do you get with that 7200go? -
yeah im not worried about the temp anymore since i found out that the program i was using was out dating and wasnt reading the temp right my real idle temp is in the range of 46c to 48c
fps in what i dont have much installed in the way of games on this yet. but im fs2002 the max frame rate im getting with all the settings turned up is 62 fps -
Thats what I thought. The 2ghz Turion is nowhere near the end of the athlon's TDP envelope. Try Riva tuner. There is a monitoring program within it that will monitor your CPU, system, and GPU temps plus clock speeds as well as an overclocking utility. I use it on both of my machines
-
cool im using rmclock at the momment.
-
I am not trying to be a negative nancy but I think there may be probs with rm clock. It caused weird lockups upon start up. This made it hard for me to disable rm clock since it was set to start up with windows. So then I set it to run only when I wanted it to. I got the same types of lockups but only when I set it to dynamically change the clock speeds. I thought it was an incompatibility with AMD's power now! but it was disabled in the BIOS. I also used it on my old XP-m system but my overclocks started gettin more and more unstable until I just had to set the CPU at stock speeds. My X2 3800 system also got more and more unstable until I backed it off from 2.35 ghz to 2.2 ghz. I am not sure if RM clock was to blame for the instability on my systems but is was definitely responsible for the lock ups on my X2 system. The system did work fine for like 4 or 5 months though and I really liked the program. It lowered my CPU temps from 127F under load to 89-92F when idling. The clincher? I bought this $50 thermaltake volcano H/S fan that works really good and its quiet. I decided that dynamically changing clock speeds based on usage defeated the purpose of my huge-expensive H/S fan. These chips are desinged to run up to 170F or so. I personally dont think the CPU cares if its 89F or 127F under the hood.
-
hmm well i dont have it starting at start up and i havent had any problems with start up or lock ups. were you using the current version of it? i really dont use it for anything else other than the temp.
-
Hey, I usually always buy AMD products only, never intel. I just purchased a DV6000t this weekend (still waiting for it from the hp warehouse) I dont favor in a processor manufacturer anymore. I was going to buy the AMD version of this laptop, but the video card is faster in the dv6000t. If the faster video card was in the amd version, I would of gotten the amd version. I think the speed difference between the core 2 duo and the AMD Turion 64 X2 is so slighly different, that it doesnt matter. I dont really care about temperature either as I dont do hardcore gaming. Later.
-
yeah, I was just giving you a heads up darth just in case it happened to you. peace
-
this is my first amd pc i have bought and im pleased by it.
good lookin out dux. -
