I ordered a dv6500 CTO over the phone direct with HP on Wednesday July 11th. The sales dude told me that the 6500 had just become available for custom-built orders that day, and that I should receive it within 16 working days max - that means I should have received it by last Friday August 3rd.

As yet, I've still not received my laptop. Every time I ring HP I get told a different story - that the case is with a manager, that the laptop is sitting in 'logistics', or that it's still being built, and today was the icing on the cake - that the laptop is actually "unavailable". This despite HP having debited my card in full on July 25th.

So has anyone else i the UK managed to get their hands on a dv6500 - whether custom-built or off-the-shelf? I've been looking around at other laptops but nothing seems to match what the dv6500 has for the price - C2D T7300, 2Gb RAM, HDMI, great design, plus a great price on the 3 year warranty with accidental damage cover.

Can anyone offer any advice on my situation? I was expecting to have the laptop in pleny of time for a trip I'm taking on Wednesday, but that's not going to happen now. Very, very disappointed in HP and their clueless (UK-based) after-sales support agents.
