    Hey all,

So, I have a dv6500t that I've been enjoying for the last month or so. I recently picked up a xb3000 expansion base the other day and just hooked everything up.

Alas, my problem is that none of the USB ports, integrated speakers or front volume buttons appear to work (or even light) :( . The network cable works (I'm using it as I type), and so does the headphone jack... and the computer is getting power through the expansion port connection. I've tried the analog video and it's not displaying the picture (although it seems to recognize that a signal is present when I switch the display).

According to HP's web site... this base is compatible with the 6500 and in fact the port connection is a match (no converter is required as on some of the laptops on the compatibility list). I'm trying to ID if I got a bum unit or if I'm just missing some configuration item. If anyone out there with a 6500 and the xb3000 base can tell me they get full functionality from everything on the base without issue... that'll tell me what I need! Thanks!

I have both and they work fine. No problems with any of the outputs or inputs.

Were you able to find a resolution to the problem? I have a dv9500t and when I hook it up to the xb3000, with the power cord plugged into the base station, I experience the exact same issues.

branfarm: Yeah.... I got a new base station. The one I got apparently was a bad unit. I never identified the cause of the problem, the company I purchased it from gave me a replacement unit and it worked perfectly.

Thanks for the update. I'll pursue obtaining a replacement unit.
